The wide spectrum of disease severity and the variable long term
outcomes of cardiomyopathies make these case histories especially
challenging for the underwriter. This session will provide a broad
overview of the types and etiologies of cardiomyopathies, their clinical
presentations, a review of standard diagnostic testing, and an update of
current treatment modalities. More importantly, the speaker will define
specific risk stratification criteria in order to appropriately and fairly
categorize cases more, or less, favorably.
