Death by Prescription
Betsy Sears, MSM, MT (ASCP)

Per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, drug fatalities have overtaken traffic accidents as a cause of death in the United States since 2009. The fatalities include all drug deaths, but the increase was propelled largely by prescription painkillers. Law enforcement and public health officials have increased their efforts to reduce prescription drug misuse. While there are early signs of progress, drug-related deaths have continued to rise. In this presentation we will review the potential impact of prescription drug abuse on the insurance industry.
